Birthday Girl

Yesterday was my birthday. And of course I worked my weekend job. BUT I will say that working and getting weekend PAY wasnt such a bad thing. After work I drove home and changed, then went to the SNB meeting we have a ReBelle, our knitting store!! It was fun, I was tired and basically chilled with friends. It was a good day.
And no. I'm not telling you how old I am LOL
(I WILL tell you that in my youth, bets were taken that I might or might not make it to 30. And I am well beyond that!)

Socktoberfest Questions

When did you start making socks? 2003 in February.
Did you teach yourself or were you taught by a friend or relative? I taught myself. No one else in the family knits.
What was your first pair? The Hiking Socks from the book "Socks, Socks, Socks"
How have they "held up" over time? They have been great. Mom, the sock snarf, got to them almost right away and she wears them and subsequent pairs often!
What would you have done differently? Nothing really, it was a learning experience. I was just glad they could be worn ok.
What yarns have you particularly enjoyed? My fav is ANNE. But a close second is Opal.
Do you like to crochet your socks? or knit them on DPNs, 2 circulars, or using the Magic Loop method? I prefer DPNs hands down!
Which kind of heel do you prefer? (flap? or short-row?) Flap. I can adjust it to my narrow heel much better and make a deeper heel for the men in the family.
How many pairs have you made? Almost 50 pair since 2003. I give them as Christmas gifts and only wear my handmade socks. I am a sock snob!

My Chocolate Overload!!

My Chocolate Swap buddy out did herself! Abigail (the hostess with the most-ess I might add) was my spoiler and spoilee and she certainly did spoil me rotten. Apparently my package arrived while I was out of town at work last Friday. My son saw the chocolate swap noted in the return address and was circling the package when I got home Saturday night. I had to threaten his existence if he so much as touched a single thing until I could click a few pictures of the contents (please refer to the Chocolate Swap blog for more pics).

The Peppinridge cookie package? Only had one cookie as of this shooting. LOL It's been almost a week and I STILL have chocolate left. I havent even touched those bars of sheer chocolate exstacy yet. Not to mention the hot chocolate mix accompanied bya great looking cup!

And let me tell you about the delicious yarns!! I was the recipient of some Cherry Tree Hill sock yarn in the Java colorway. AND if that wasn't enough, I also got three skeins of chocolate colored Boa! I can't wait to sink my needles into THAT!
Thanks so much Abigail. I hope we can do this again soon!!

An Update

I bought a new digital camera last Thursday. Working as much as I have has left me with no time to download the program to transfer the pictures to the computer. And, subsequently to my blogs.
Just let it be known I received my Chocolate Swap package last Friday!! It is amazing and I, hopefully, will be able to download the program after work so everyone can see my SWAG!!

I sent off my KTS2 package last Thursday and am waiting for her to receive that. I'm off Wednesday and Thursday and want, no NEED, to KNIT!!! Look at the bottom of this blog, Christmas is fast approaching and I don't have the pairs of socks I usually have knitted by this time each year. I need almost two dozen and only have 14 pair. I am distraught.

Other then that? Life is good and work is going well. I need to get busy and get back to work!

What An Exciting Few Days I Have Had!!

It has been a busy few days here in Kentucky. I've been working too much and knitting too little.
But even so.......Here are my OCTOBER SOCKS for my socks of the month!

My new digital camera sucks, I ended up with the socks on my lap taking their pics (the lighting and the focus was pretty bad but I finally got some color in the picture in this position! And yes the camera goes back!) I love the way the browns and blues blend. I wish you could see them in person!

Yesterday I received my tea swap package from across the pond. That would be Great Britain! It had all kinds of wonderful Biscuits and Teas. There was a package of green tea that looks divine and some loose leaf darker tea from India that is amazing! They both smell delicious while brewing!
The larger tin of biscuits are half eaten before this picture was taken. Yum! And, actually, there were FOUR of the smaller containers of chocolate and orange cookies before my son swooped in on the contents! He really does like these swaps!
I received some beautiful British yarns. The first is a blue multi-colored silk from Hipknits that feels divine! The red that you see is a cashmere and silk blend from Posh Yarns. I can't wait to make a beautiful scarf or shawl from it.

And then there is a blue green multi-colored yarn marked Lana Grossa that is going to become my "British socks"! My spoiler is Emily from "Craft Cocktail" is amazing and I thank her sooo much! She did a great job spoiling me rotten...And lest I forget, the pictures by her partner of the land and city scapes were awesome!

And finally, I have completed my scarf for ISE3 and will soon be sending it on its way! I am so thrilled to have it finished and will soon have it packed and on its way to _____________ in _________ USA!!

I certainly hope she likes it. I will be putting a nice suprise in the box with the scarf! THIS I know she will like. (sorry about the fuzzy picture. crappy camera...

Now I am going to pack MY KTS2 pals box and will be sending it out later today. I'm so excited!!
